As part of my local campaign to hold Thames Water’s feet to the fire, I recently wrote to the Director of Thames Water, Alistair Cochran.
I have yet again made clear how unacceptable the levels of sewage discharged into our waterways in recent weeks are, conveying to him the anger many in West Oxfordshire feel about these incidents and requesting an urgent meeting.
Thames Water is currently carrying out upgrades across our local networks. For example, Witney STW upgrades to the tune of £17 million are currently underway to provide a significant increase in treatment capacity from 240 to 399 litres per second and due to be completed this year.
I have repeatedly emphasised to the director that timely implementation is essential here, any further delay is unacceptable.
