I have read with interest OCC’s most recent budget papers.
It was disappointing to see the Lib-Lab-Green Alliance yet again approve plans to hike up council tax by another 5%. The Fair Deal Alliance (FDA) cares more about their pet projects than spending money wisely.
The Conservatives believe that Councillors should be focusing on delivering frontline services for which this Council has a statutory responsibility.
The FDA needs to stop using the Council chamber as a platform for virtue-signalling and symbolic gestures that relate to matters beyond the Council’s competence. Instead use it to provide social care services to vulnerable children and adults, maintain and improve the county’s roads, deliver government-funded infrastructure projects, and maintain essential community services.
