Very good progress meeting with Thames Valley Police’s Rural Crime Team and the local NFU Online branch recently to discuss the current trends and what we can do about them.
The Rural Crime Team is an excellent innovation that is making real progress, and it’s important that we keep feeding in the current challenges that those in rural areas, and particularly farmers, are facing.
I was pleased to hear a report on the positive work being achieved to make West Oxfordshire a hostile place for those who commit these crimes, and it was great to hear that offences such as hare coursing are down 44% in the last year.
Thank you very much for taking the time to meet with me and I look forward to continuing to work closely with these teams to tackle a key issue facing West Oxfordshire, for farmers and our villages alike.
