The Government has today announced that £68.8m from the Rail Network Enhancements Pipeline fund will be invested in rail upgrades in and around Oxford Station to improve capacity and reliability.
The funding will enable Network Rail to deliver track works and level crossing closures, to remove pinch points north of Oxford. It will also fund enabling works to Oxford station for a new western entrance, a new platform and a new bridge over Botley Road.
Speaking after the announcement, Robert said: "I warmly welcome this significant investment in our local rail services. These upgrades will not only improve the reliability of journeys to and from Oxford for West Oxfordshire commuters - but are an important precursor to the Cotswold Line upgrades which we continue to work towards."
