✈️ BRITISH NATIONALS ABROAD ✈️
The Government is working around the clock to support and advise British citizens abroad, and to help them get home. My team and I have already helped a number of local residents to get home, and are in regular contact with several more.
I’m really pleased to see the Foreign Office taking this issue seriously with new measures announced yesterday.
The Foreign Secretary announced a new arrangement between the Government and airlines (such as British Airways, Virgin and Jet2) to help British nationals stranded abroad where commercial routes no longer remain an option.
If commercial routes are available, airlines should continue to fly people home, and tickets or ticket changes should occur at little to no cost.
If routes are not available, the Government will organise charter flights, with £75 million of funding to keep costs down and affordable to help get people back to the UK.
Anyone unsure should check the Foriegn Office’s travel advice which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
