Robert Welcomes Announcement of National Carrier Policy

Robert said: "I am delighted at the Defence Secretary's announcement of a National Carrier Policy which will set out how our ships will deliver for the UK in the years ahead.

"I called for this in my Westminster Hall debate back in February and is vital if we are to make the most of this incredible sovereign capability.

"Earlier this week I went to visit HMS Prince of Wales - which when in service soon will mean we have one carrier available at very high readiness at all times. The National Carrier Policy is vital to ensure we use our carrier capability to deliver the UK's objectives around the world.

"I am grateful to all colleagues who joined me in campaigning cross-party on this issue - let's now work to push the Carrier Policy forward and get the strategy right."
