Robert recently visited Witney Community Hospital to receive a briefing from the Matron on their preparations for winter. Robert was taken on a tour of the hospital and informed of the work being done, through the flu vaccination scheme and the Emergency Multidisciplinary Unit (EMU), to ensure the hospital manages the increased demand this winter.
Robert said: "I received a useful briefing from the Matron of Witney Community Hospital about their preparations for this winter.
"I was pleased to learn about the success of the EMU which is helping to maximise the number of free beds, as well as the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) which, as I know from recent personal experience, offers a caring, high-quality service.
"It was also helpful to discuss the additional £3.5 billion which the Government has just pledged for primary and community healthcare. This funding is aimed at ensuring people can access the healthcare they need from the comfort of their own home, which is better for patients and avoids them being admitted to hospital, reducing pressure on NHS staff.
"I welcome this focus on community-care and look forward to working with Ministers and local health bosses to ensure this funding makes a difference in our area."
