Robert said, "It’s a Witney tradition to follow the Mayor’s Civic Service at the start of the Witney Feast with a short service on the Carousel in the fairground. Known as the 'Gallopers' service, this involves the clergy, choir and guests standing on the carousel signing hymns with the congregation next to the fairground stalls and rides! Always an honour to attend, but particularly this year, when St Mary’s church celebrates its 775th year!
"It was a pleasure to join Witney residents for the traditional St Mary's service at the start of the Witney Feast - the only service I have ever attended which takes place from a carousel!"
