"Buses are a lifeline for local residents to get to work, school, to appointments and to see friends and family. Buses also help to relieve congestion on our roads, which is, as we all know, a major concern for Burford. That is why I continue to campaign for more community transport services here in West Oxfordshire, working with local groups to encourage this good work. Indeed, I am hugely supportive of the work that Villager Community Bus does for residents in the Burford area; I look forward to visiting this group in May and hearing more about how they have helped and continue to help local communities.
"I am also working to support and promote community transport nationally. In March, I officially assumed my new role as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Community Transport. The launch of this APPG is a significant step in strengthening national support for community transport, and a fantastic way to recognise the fantastic work of community transport initiatives right across the UK. I was greatly encouraged by the Group’s inaugural meeting, and I look forward to seeing what we are able to achieve as a platform to encourage community transport projects.
"I look forward to meeting with the Burford Town Council in April; this will be an excellent opportunity to discuss issues that matter most to local residents, which will inform my work both in Westminster and across West Oxfordshire.
