At today's meeting of the Oxfordshire County Council's HOSC (Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee), it is was approved to create a cross-border committee specifically to overview services at the Horton Hospital.
This is following the recommendations of the Independent Reconfiguration Panel (IRP) after the decision to close obstetrics at the Horton was referred by HOSC to the Secretary of State for Health.
This committee will serve a similar function to HOSC, but will look specifically at the Horton, and will include personnel from other relevant bodies from outside of Oxfordshire. This will be time-limited and the committee will be dissolved once this review is complete.
Robert said, "Healthcare needs are not governed by county boundaries, and it is only right that everyone who relies on the Horton's services are accounted for in this decision making process. I look forward to hearing more progress on this in due course."
