Robert said, "I visited this summer’s local group at the Witney Town Hall who were fundraising for the Yellow Submarine Café in Witney (another fantastic cause I would strongly recommend you check out: http://www.yellowsubmarine.org.uk/). An enjoyable afternoon with a talented and enthusiastic team!
"Last week, the Prime Minister announced that thousands of teenagers will receive additional support to improve their mental health as part of a new National Citizen Service initiative. She announced these plans whilst meeting young people from Oxfordshire taking part in this summer’s programme.
"I wholeheartedly support this move and I am glad that making sure young people are fully supported both inside and outside of the classroom is a key priority for the Government.
"Mental health issues can have a devastating effect on young lives: increasing the ways in which these issues can be discussed with young people will be hugely beneficial.
"Having met with this summer’s NCS group in Witney, I am glad that more is being invested in this fantastic programme. When coupled with the Secretary of State for Health's recent announcement that there will be 21,000 new posts in mental health support by 2021, it is clear that the Government is taking great steps to ensure that mental and physical health receive the parity that they should."
