"In December, I sent a survey to every household in Woodstock and Bladon and invited residents to give me their views on a range of local and national issues. I received a large number of returned surveys and I have greatly valued assessing the responses.
"One issue that is clearly of great concern is HGVs in Woodstock and Bladon. A large number of constituents identified this issue as a key concern, highlighting the significant strength of feeling that exists about this matter.
"I am well aware of this issue – not least because I live here – and I welcome the steps Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has taken to address it; I am particularly supportive of the Council’s work to improve the A40, which will of course significantly reduce the number of HGVs driving through Woodstock and Bladon. Furthermore, the Council’s recent bid to the Housing Infrastructure Fund has the potential to give us access to the funding we need to find solutions to these issues, and this bid has received my full backing.
"Other key issues that were frequently identified in returned surveys were speeding traffic on the A44 through Woodstock and parking in the centre of town. There were particular concerns raised about safety at the zebra crossing by the Black Prince and suggestions that traffic is often travelling too fast to stop for pedestrians.
"I will continue to work with Cllr Ian Hudspeth on the issues you have raised. I am very grateful to you for making me aware of your concerns."
