A fantastic step was made this week for those suffering from slow broadband. I am delighted to announce that, following a rigorous procurement process, West Oxfordshire District Council has now signed contracts with Gigaclear to bring ultrafast broadband to those parts of rural West Oxfordshire still without a superfast service.
The programme is supported by funding from Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK), part of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. The project will connect over 4,600 homes and businesses with Fibre to the Premises (FttP) technology, giving them broadband with speeds of up to 1,000Mbps (1Gbps).
This is amazing news for West Oxfordshire. Since becoming your MP, I have repeatedly raised the issue of poor broadband with the Minister for Broadband both in Parliament and at many meetings. I am pleased that this has had a positive result and the whole of West Oxfordshire is on the way to being fully connected.
