Having campaigned for upgrades for years, this is good news.
I’m glad that Thames Water now agree that the discharges we’ve seen are unacceptable & have agreed to these local upgrades:
- At Bampton STW, we are upgrading the works, including increasing treatment capacity from 23 litres per second to 36 litres per second. Completion is imminent
- At Church Hanborough STW we are upgrading the works, including increasing treatment capacity from 50.5 litres per second to 55 litres per second. Completion is imminent.
- At Chipping Norton STW we are upgrading the works, including increasing treatment capacity to ensure robust compliance with the permit level of 73 litres per second. The works is planned to finish in September 2023.
- At Enstone STW we have reviewed all aspects of the site’s performance against its permit standards and found that no actions were necessary to ensure robust compliance.
- At Finstock STW we will be increasing storm tank storage capacity and reducing levels of ammonia in the treated effluent. The work will start later this year. Completion dates are March 2024 for storage capacity and March 2025 for ammonia.
- At Middle Barton STW we will be increasing storm tank storage capacity. The start date has not yet been confirmed, but the work will be completed by March 2025.
- At Milton-under-Wychwood STW we will be upgrading the works, including increasing treatment capacity from 30 litres per second to 43 litres per second. The start date has not yet been confirmed, but the work will be completed by March 2025.
- At South Leigh STW we will be upgrading the site to ensure robust compliance with permit conditions and also reducing phosphorus concentrations in the treated effluent. The work will start early in 2024. Planned completion dates are in late 2024 for both projects, which will be delivered together to minimise disruption at this sensitive site.
- At Stanton Harcourt STW we will be reducing phosphorus concentrations in the treated effluent. The work is planned to start early in 2024 and to be complete by December 2024.
There is more to do & we are not there yet, but this is a major step forward in our campaign. Please do read more here: https://www.jackfm.co.uk/news/oxfordshire-news/thames-water-to-spend-1-…
