***Campaign update on Windrush Place ***
I am delighted to have received news that West Oxfordshire District Council (WODC) have finally approved the developers’ plans for the sports pavilion.
This is a hugely positive step forward for our campaign to see WODC and the developers follow through on their section 106 agreement and deliver on the promised infrastructure at Windrush Place.
I am also pleased to have been informed that the developers are expecting a planning decision from the local authority in the next month with regards to construction of the local centre and shops.
It is great to see that the campaign Cllr Ashby and I have been working hard on, to hold WODC and the developers to account on behalf of residents of Windrush Place, has now achieved this positive result.
Please be assured that I will keep up the pressure on both the developers and WODC to see the completion of this infrastructure through to the end, doing all I can to see the works completed as soon as possible.
I am also pleased to be able to report that following pressure from my office, the consortium management team and managing directors of the businesses behind the development at Windrush Place, met last week to review the site and to implement a strategy to address the areas of concern and issues I raised around general maintenance of the development, while they retain responsibility for the area. This includes the green public space around Aerodrome Way, among other public spaces that have unfortunately fallen into disrepair in recent months and was a point of concern for numerous residents that made contact with my office.
The developers have now assured me that priority instruction has been given to review the areas as quickly as possible. The developers have also expressed their commitment to addressing the outstanding items, as they review and complete the handover of the development.
While this is certainly very welcome and positive news, I will continue my campaign on behalf of the residents of Windrush Place, to ensure that WODC and the developers fulfil their obligations to residents.
