Robert has written to new Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, to express his support for Oxfordshire County Council's bid to the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).
The HIF bid will, if successful, unlock £102 million of central government funding for improvements to the A40, which would go a long way towards addressing the decades-old problems of congestion on the route.
If successful, the bid will deliver:
-
Extension of the A40 dual carriageway from Witney to the proposed Eynsham park and ride, including improving cycling facilities along the route.
-
Extension of A40 westbound bus lane from west of Duke’s Cut canal and railway bridges to the proposed Eynsham park and ride.
-
A40 Capacity and Connectivity Improvements at Duke’s Cut Canal and Railway Bridges.
Robert has enthusiastically supported Oxfordshire County Council's bid, which has been put together in close partnership with West Oxfordshire District Council, lobbying Ministers tirelessly to secure this crucial funding.
