Robert has welcomed the news that, as part of the Government's Project Gigabit, over 68,000 homes across Oxfordshire and West Berkshire will get access to top-of-the-range broadband connections.
This is part of the Government's £5 billion investment to give hard to reach areas across the UK next generation gigabit broadband. The target is to ensure we rollout gigabit broadband to at least 85% of the UK by 2025, with 60% on course to be connected this year - giving us the fastest rollout in Europe.
Robert said: "I welcome this significant investment which will help ensure rural areas like West Oxfordshire aren’t left behind in this important rollout of next generation broadband. This builds on our achievements in recent years to upgrade broadband speeds across West Oxfordshire and to eliminate mobile connectivity 'not-spots' through the Shared Rural Network."
If you live in a rural area and are experiencing slow broadband speeds you may already be eligible for Government vouchers to cover the costs of installing gigabit broadband. You can learn more about this here: https://gigabitvoucher.culture.gov.uk/.
