Robert recently opened a Disability Confident event hosted by Cottsway Housing at their Witney office.
Disability Confident is a Government scheme aimed at tackling the disability employment gap, reducing barriers to employment for disabled people and educating employers about the value disabled employees can bring to their business.
As of January 2019, over 10,000 businesses have signed up across the UK.
Robert is keen to encourage more businesses in West Oxfordshire to sign up to be a ‘Disability Confident Employer’ and joined hosts Cottsway Housing at a recent event to inform local businesses about the scheme.
Speaking after the event, Robert said: “Pleased to join this well-attended event that sought to inform local businesses on the merits of being a Disability Confident employer and ultimately encourage them to sign up to the scheme.
“Breaking down barriers to employment for disabled people is key to improving life chances and ensures disabled people are able to achieve their ambitions. The objectives of the scheme are good for the individual, good for business and good for society.
“I look forward to building on the success of this event to encourage even more Disability Confident employers in West Oxfordshire.”
