There are a lot of military charities in the UK, and it's not always easy to understand how they all fit together. Many of them address specific aspects of veterans' lives.
Care After Combat is a UK based charity providing support within the Criminal Justice System for the well-being of former British Armed Forces personnel and their Families.
Veterans encountering the Criminal Justice System often have complex needs that can be directly linked to their military service. There are also lifestyle factors such as housing, employment, substance misuse, and relationships, that can affect their offending behaviour. Additionally, a lack of trust in the system and society is prevalent.
This is where you might be able to help. Care After Combat are looking for volunteer mentors who might be able to help upport our service users by working with them to change their situation by breaking damaging, recurring behaviours and helping them through their journey to what will hopefully be a crime free life.
