In my role as Member of Parliament for Witney and West Oxfordshire, I am supporting GWR's bid for funding to make Kingham Station accessible for all passengers.
At present, it is not possible for disabled people to access Kingham Station, limiting their opportunity to use rail services for work, school and leisure. Kingham, a busy station with over 190,000 passenger journeys annually, is the only remaining station on the North Cotswold Line that is not accessible. Not only would an accessible Kingham Station improve opportunities for constituents who are disabled, it will also help parents with small children, elderly people, and those with luggage or heavy bags.
It would mean that, as we continue to work to deliver more frequent and reliable services on the North Cotswold Line, we could celebrate this part of the railway as fully accessible. This will make West Oxfordshire's railways more attractive to modal shift, encouraging greater local rail use for leisure and for work.
I have launched the below petition so local residents can express their support for the campaign. So if you are a resident of Kingham or use Kingham Station, please take a moment to sign the petition and register your support for making Kingham Station accessible for all!
